Katey Sagal
Katey Sagal, an actress/singer who is
extremely skilled and adept in drama and comedy, became a household name as Peg
Bundy (Fox series Married... with Children, 1987). During its lengthy run she
received three Golden Globe and two American Comedy Award nominations. Peg
Bundy's character was well-known, and Katey continued her career as a
performer, not just in sitcoms, but also performing roles that were completely
different from the character that brought her to the attention of. She played
Gemma Teller Morrow in Sons of Anarchy (2008) as the matriarch of the Hell's
Angels-like California biker clan. In 2011, her performance won her the Golden
Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series Drama.
Catherine Louise Sagal was a child of Sara Zwilling, a director and singer, and
Boris Sagal - renowned television and film directors. Los Angeles native,
Catherine Louise Sagal began singing when she was just five years old. She then
studied acting and voice at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia.
After working as a singer waitress during her "salad" and then
joining the band "The Group With No Name" prior to gaining a break
with Gene Simmons, who was part of 1970s rock group KISS. She gained valuable
experience while performing as a backup singer for Simmons, Etta Jones, Tanya
Tucker, and Olivia Newton-John. When Bette performed her avant-garde stage
shows in the latter half of the 1970s and early 80s, she was dynamic in live
performances alongside Bette Midler.
